Ferry ride over from Wellington to Picton is very nice and we got a bit homesick since the ferry ride reminded us about summers at home and the ferry to amazing island Gotland. Those of you considering a vacation in Sweden, do put Gotland on the route.

KEA met up with us when we got off the ferry, the tap in our van continued leaking so quick swap of vehicle at Picton, put us back clean, bright and shiny on the road. Blenheim is the main wine area for producing Sauvignon Blanc wines and our first stop is at Cloudy Bay, a favourite at home and a must to visit.
Sober cellar door, (for novices like me, cellar door is the name of the tasting room) and we tried 6 different wines all very good but the wallet allowed one purchase. Te Koko 2007, this wine can be purchased in Sweden but you have to pre order it. Strongly recommended!
Our pursuit for the perfect wines continued and by recommendation we hit the cellar door of Seresin good wines but non we really fell for. Kids where very tolerant so lets go for a last tasting! Our pick was Bladen, a very small wine producer, they make 6000 cases (a 12 bottles) per year. ![]() |
