Rainy day perfect for travelling to Dunedin

Grey skies and heavy rain started off this day. Feels good to say goodbye and leave idyllic Kinloch, but I would love to come back and try the different trails.

Klara is documenting Kinloch before leaving
This was planned as a long day on the road, and a long day needs good food. First stop had to be Kawarau river bridge and AJ Hacketts bungy jump center. This is the first commercial bungy jump spot in the world. You can really feel the adrenaline when you enter the building. Live cams show the current jumper and there is also a big glassed deck where you have excellent views of the river and the platform. Oskar maybe wanted to jump and after a few seconds of hesitation he decided to go for it! I am soo afraid of heights so its not on my map to even THINK about jumping bungyjump. 130 NSD later Oskar was in the queue for his first time ever, bungy jump.

Scary!
Kalle stayed as support and the girls lined up as photographer and spectators. 20 seconds later a happy relieved son is back with his 2 feet on the ground. AJ Hackett Co offers a second jump for half price if you do it same day, it was great said Oskar but a second jump….Nja. (Oskar writes his own bungy comments below) 45 min we were back on the road, a couple of hundred dollars poorer, but a lot richer in experience. Our road continued through the never ending beautiful NZ landscape. It changes constantly but stays beautiful. Night rest came to be in another not so charming city holiday park. City HP has a tendency to be cramped and not our favourite type of park. But we got power and a good night sleep!

At the bridge I had to stand in a little queue, the weather was quiet cold so my poor feet was freezing (I had taken of my shoes). When they prepared for the jump they asked me if I wanted to dip my head in the water and I said yes. The hardest moment was of course the part when you are looking down before the jump (those who have done free fall at Gröna lund exept there is no return there). Okay now jump on three I thought, but the guy who had prepared me told me to look in the cameras first :/.

After that it was nothing between the jump and me so I did it.

Wow that was an amazing feeling the band around my wrist were much softer than expected, just hanging there in the air was a magnificent experience. It took a while for me to catch the stick witch they use to hale people in with. At the steady ground my legs was a bit shaky but I’m happy I did it!
